LEOGARD MARTIN - INDUCTED 1993 - TRACK & FIELD

Leogard Martin is one of the most decorated athletes in NJCAA history. He was a 15-time All-American and won nine individual national championships.

After arriving at SPC, Martin promptly won the NJCAA National Championship in cross country, followed by titles in the indoor 3-mile run, indoor 2-mile run, indoor 1-mile run, outdoor 5,000-meter run, and outdoor 10,000-meter run. He still holds school records in the 5,000-meter run and the indoor 3-mile run.

In 1980, he ran the marathon at the Summer Olympics for his home country of Tanzania.
