
RICHMOND, Va — The South Plains College men's and women's cross country teams closed out the season Saturday at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships at Pole Green Park.
Sophomore Divan Du Plooy led the Texans with a 12th place finish in the men's 8k, crossing the line at 24:00.3. Hamdani Benahmed was 17th for South Plains in 24:11.0. Alison Guaman Tisalema finished 33rd for the Lady Texans, posting a final time of 18:31.0.
"Our kids did a great job competing, and I'm proud of the work they put in," South Plains cross country coach Takieddine Hedeilli said. "Allison finished with a PR, and Divan did a great job placing in the top 15. The cross country season is great preparation for the track season, and we are ready to go compete on the track."
