Yore, Clawson place in top four at Cook's College Shootout Sunday

LUBBOCK — Brey Yore and Nathan Clawson represented the South Plains College men's rodeo team Sunday at the Cook's College Shootout, which hosted the top 10 qualifiers from the region in their respective events.

Yore, who won the men's all-around title at the Tech College Rodeo on Saturday, placed fourth on Sunday in steer wrestling, earning $1,000 daily. Clawson posted a second place finish in calf roping, totaling $2500.

Yore and Clawson currently sit in the top 10 in the region in their respective events and will be back in the saddle Nov. 7-9 at the Vernon College Rodeo.

Yore placed sixth in steer wrestling at the Tech Rodeo, running a 4.7 in the long round and a 6.8 in the finals. Yore would then take eighth in calf roping, going 8.4 in the long round and 17.7 in the finals. Yore finished the weekend with a sixth-place finish in team roping, competing with teammate Katie Bews. The pair went 6.5 in the long round but missed in the finals.
