
LUBBOCK — Brey Yore won the men's all-around title and led the South Plains College men's rodeo team to a fourth place team finish Saturday at the Texas Tech University Rodeo at Cook's Garage.
Yore placed sixth in steer wrestling, running a 4.7 in the long round and a 6.8 in the finals, totaling 60 points. Yore would then take eighth in calf roping, going 8.4 in the long round and 17.7 in the finals, totaling 55 points. Yore finished the weekend with a sixth-place finish in team roping, competing with teammate Katie Bews. The pair went 6.5 in the long round but missed in the finals, as Yore added an additional 70 points.
West Creed added 70 points to the Texan's total, placing fifth in team roping. Creed road with teammate Roan Oldfield, clocking a 6.5 in the long round but no timed in the finals. Kreece Dearing added 10 points in steer wrestling with a ninth place finish. Dearing posted a 5.3 in the long round and no timed in the finals. Dearing added 20 points in calf roping, placing sixth with a 9.4 in the long round and a 10.0 in the finals.
The Texans finished with 285 points, as Tarleton placed first with 370 points, followed by Odessa (335), and Western Texas (330).
