CANYON, Texas — The South Plains College men's and women's track and field teams combined for 10 event titles Sunday at the Buffalo Invitational at the West Texas A&M Track and Field Complex.

"We had a great weather day on Sunday, and our kids came out and took advantage of it," South Plains head coach Erik Vance said. "Success is contagious, and I thought we had a good meet as a team. Once you get things rolling, it can be hard to stop. We have gotten better at putting a focus on execution, and we're just trying to go and improve each day."

Jaime Moreno led the top-ranked Texans in the men's javelin with a first place finish, with a mark of 208' 4".  Sophomore Harry Crosby won the men's long jump with a mark of 24' 10", while Isaiah Patrick was third with a mark of 23' 6.25".

In the men's 4x100, Waly Bathily, Khailan, Dishaun Lamb, and Mouatez Sikiou went 41.41 to take first. In the men's 1500-meter run, Hamdani Benahmed was first in 3:44.06, while Divan DuPlooy took third in 3:45.94.

Outdoor All-American Django Segovia took first in the men's pole vault for South Plains, clearing the bar at 16' 04.75". The Texans closed out the meet with a first place finish in the men's 4x400 relay, as Mouatez Sikiou, Denzel Simusialela, Matthew Gordon, and Hamdani Benahmed went 3:12.55.

"On both the field side of things and on the track, our sophomores continue to get better each week," Vance said. "When our younger athletes see that, it pushes them to go and continue to work to find ways to match that. We are set up to have success in the outdoor season more than anything else, and our kids are going out and competing, and these last two weeks, our kids have been locked in and focused."

South Plains Abril Okon' won the women's high jump, clearing the bar at 5' 7". Ruth Agadama took second in the women's long jump, going 19 ' 7.5". The Lady Texans took second in the 4x100 relay, as Agadama, Sydney Roquebrun, Brandy Hall, and Breanna Clarke posted a 45.84.
