SPC rodeo program caps season with top national finishes at College National Finals Rodeo

LEVELLAND – The South Plains College rodeo program capped the season at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, competing on the highest level of collegiate rodeo and ended the year as one of the top programs in the country.

The Lady Texan rodeo team placed 29th nationally, as Madison Bean placed 29th overall in barrel racing. Bean clocked a 14.65, 14.61, and 16.65, posting a 45.92 average. Emery Mask finished 41st in barrel racing, running a 19.50, 19.27, and 14.25, totaling a final average of 53.02.

Bean would then place 15th nationally in breakaway roping, running a 2.5, NS, and 2.6 to finish with a 5.1 overall average. Mask placed 33rd in the breakaway, posting a 12.3, NS, and a 3.5 to finish with a 15.8 average. In goat tying, South Plains' Kallie Montalvo placed 33rd overall, running a 10.0, 8.4, and a 7.1, capping the event with a 25.5 average.

The Texans were also represented at the CNFR as Logan Kenline placed 26th nationally in steer wrestling. Kenline was a no time in the first go, followed by a 4.6 and a 14.3 to finish with an 18.9 average.
