Yore captures men's all-around title, Bean wins women's all-around crown Saturday at Texas Tech Rodeo

LUBBOCK — Brey Yore captured the men's all-around title and Madison Bean snagged the women's all-around crown Saturday as the South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams each placed second in the final team standings at the Texas Tech University Rodeo.

Yore totaled 140 points in steer wrestling, winning the event title with a 4.9 in the long round and a 5.2 in the finals, posting a 10.1 average. Logan Kenline added 85 points to the Texan's total, placing fourth in steer wrestling after running a 7.0 in the long round and a 4.9 in the finals to finish with an 11.9 average. South Plains' Jace Joos placed eighth in steer wrestling, clocking a 6.3 in the long round and an 18.6 in the finals to cap the event with a 24.9 average.

Yore added 160 points to his total with a second-place finish in tiedown roping, clocking a 9.0 in the long round and a 10.0 in the finals, posting a 19.0 average. Titan Quigg added 30 points for South Plains in tiedown roping, placing sixth after running an 11.1 in the long round and a 19.5 in the finals, tallying a 30.7 average. The Texans finished with 415 points, as Clarendon College won the men's team title with 460 points.

Bean led the Lady Texans with a second-place finish in barrel racing, notching 130 points for South Plains. Bean posted an 18.38 in the long round and a 17.91 in the finals Saturday night to cap the event with a 36.29 average. Bean would then tack on 130 points in breakaway roping, placing third overall. Bean turned in a 3.0 in the long round and a 4.4 in the finals to finish with a 7.4 average. The Lady Texans finished with 260 points on the weekend, as Texas Tech won the women's team title with 375 points.
