SPC rodeo teams wrap up Clarendon College Rodeo Saturday

CLARENDON — The South Plains College men's and women's rodeo teams wrapped up their third rodeo of the fall semester over the weekend, competing at the Clarendon College Rodeo.

The Texans qualified three for the team roping finals Saturday night, led by Nathan Clawson who picked up 40 individual points with a sixth place finish. Clawson rode with Tarleton State's Curtis Kayser, turning in a 6.7 in the long round and an 11.6 in the finals to finish with an 18.3 average.

South Plains' Brey Yore rode with Riley Jenkins of Howard College, notching a seventh place finish. The duo ran a 7.1 in the long round and a 13.3 in the finals to finish with a 20.4 average. John Hisel added 10 points for South Plains, teaming up with Trevor Hale of Cisco, and placed ninth overall. The duo clocked a 6.8 in the long round but missed in the finals to finish with a 106.8 average.

South Plains will be back on the road Oct. 20-22 in Vernon at the Vernon College Rodeo, before closing out the fall semester in Lubbock Oct. 27-29 at the Texas Tech University Rodeo.
