LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's cross country teams are set to run on their home course on Friday when they host the South Plains College invitational at Brashear Lake Park.

The women's 5k is slated to get underway at 4 p.m., which will be followed by the men's 8k at 4:30. SPC will be one of five schools competing, as Angelo State, New Mexico Junior college, Amarillo College, and Clarendon College will make the trip to Levelland.

In their previous outing on Sept. 23 in Hobbs, Aron Tanui led the Texans in the men's 8k with a 3rd place finish in a time of 24:58.3, while Maximus Palacios was 17th in 28:50.8, and Christian Francisco placed 19th in 29:35.0. Lilliana Guerrero turned in a 14^th place finish for the Lady Texans, posting a final time of 21:14.2 in the women's 5k. Esmeralda Espinoza was 19^th with a time of 21:50.1, while Jeniel Jones finished 23^rd in 22:39.1.
