South Plains College rodeo teams set for 2019 College National Finals Rodeo

LEVELLAND — For the second time in as many years, the South Plains College women's rodeo team will compete for a national title at the College National Finals Rodeo In Casper, Wyoming after a second place finish in the Southwest Region.

Led by head coach Kerry Doster, who was named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Women's Head Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive year on May 6, the Lady Texans will be in the hunt for the program's first national crown.

The Lady Texans are led by freshman Kaytlyn Miller, the Southwest Region Women's All-Around Champion. Miller, who will represent the Lady Texans in breakaway roping and goat tying, was named the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Women's Athlete of the Year after racking up 1,147 points this season.

Joining Miller on the national stage will be Delaney Kunau, a WJCAC First Team All-Conference selection who will compete in breakaway roping for South Plains. Elle Eagles and Kody Criswell will also compete for the Lady Texans, with Criswell competing in breakaway roping, and Eagles competing in goat tying.

After winning the Southwest Region in team roping (header), the Texans' Grady Quam will compete for the orange and blue in Casper. Quam will be joined at the CNFR by Hayden and Hadley Cloward who will also compete in team roping for the Texans.
