Gabbie Green named Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Women’s Junior College Player of the Year, jersey to be displayed in Women's Basketball Hall of Fame

South Plains College women's basketball standout Gabbie Green has added another pair of accolades to an already preeminent resume following a breakout sophomore season, being tabbed the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Women's Junior College Player of the Year on Friday, and was selected to have her jersey displayed in the Ring of Honor at the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in Knoxville, TN.

Green, who was named an NJCAA First Team All-American, WBCA All-American, Region V Player of the Year, as well as the Most Valuable Player of the Western Junior College Athletic Conference, will continue her career at the University of Pittsburgh next season.

A two-year starter for the Lady Texans, Green produced on both ends of the court during her sophomore campaign, averaging 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game. Green ranked second in the region with 197 total field goals and fourth in the region with 136 assists. As one of the top scorers in the country, Green ranked third in the region with 504 total points and ranked third in the Western Junior College Athletic Conference with 17.1 points per game during league play.
