No. 1 Texans, No. 3 Lady Texans travel to Lubbock Saturday for Texas Tech Masked Rider Open

LEVELLAND — With a final meet remaining before the outdoor national championships, the South Plains College men's and women's track and field teams will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at the Texas Tech Masked Rider Open at the Fuller Track and Field Complex.

The meet will get underway in Lubbock with the field events at 11:30 a.m., with running events to kick off at 3 p.m. Live results will be available here: https://results.flotrack.org/?mid=1604

The Texans enter the weekend ranked first in the latest USTFCCCA national poll, while the Lady Texans come in ranked third in the country. The Texans have accumulated 30 national qualifying marks to date, including two of the marks in the country. Rylan Olguin ranks first in the pole vault with a mark of 16' 0", coming at the Tyson Invitational on Feb. 8, while sophomore Bryson Deberry is first in the high jump with a clearance of 7' 1.5" set at the Angelo State David Noble Relays on April 6.

On the women's side, the Lady Texans have amassed 21 national qualifying marks heading into Lubbock including top marks in the javelin (Akira Phillip, 137'8'), and 10,000 meters (Gladys Jemaiyo, 34:58.67).

South Plains will look to close out the regular season in prime fashion before traveling to Hobbs, New Mexico May 16-18 for the 2019 NJCAA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships.
