Asani Hylton leads men's decathlon after day one of 92nd KU Relays

Lawrence, KS. — South Plains College decathlete Asani Hylton leads the field with 3,634 points after day one of the 92nd Kansas Relays presented by RCB Bank at Roch ChalK Park.

Hylton posted the top mark in the shot put with a throw of 37' 5¼", notching 571 points. Hylton followed up with a first-place finish in the high jump, clearing 6' 9" for 859 points. Hylton placed second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.87, tacking on 687 points, and placed second in the long jump with a mark of 22' 1" to net 750 points.

Hylton rounded out the day with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.43 for 767 points. With five events complete, Hylton holds a 259-point lead over Baker's Logan Lamb, with capped the first day with 3,375 points.

The decathlon will cotinine Thursday morning at 9 a.m. with the men's 110-meter hurdles.
