Gabbie Green named to Women's Basketball Coaches Association All-American Team

LEVELLAND — Already touting Region V Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player of the WJCAC honors, sophomore standout Gabbie Green added another accomplishment to an already impressive resume as she was named to the WBCA All-American team on Wednesday.

A second-year guard from Bellville, Texas, Green has been one of the top scoring guards in the country this season, averaging 14. 8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Green has been instrumental for the Lady Texans, guiding them to a 28-4 record and a No. 1 national ranking for the first time in program history.

Green has scored in double figures 22 times this season including a career-high 34 points on Jan. 31 against conference foe Midland College at the Chaparral Center. Shooting nearly 50 percent from the field during her sophomore stint, Green has dished out 123 assists on the year and picked 67 steals on the defensive end for the Lady Texans.

Looking to close out her career in Levelland in prime fashion, Green will look to lead the Lady Texans to their first-ever national title at the NJCAA Women's Basketball National Tournament March 18-23 at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock.
