Gabbie Green tabbed as NJCAA Div. I Women's Basketball National Player of the Week

LEVELLAND — After earning Region V Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors Tuesday, South Plains sophomore standout Gabbie Green was tabbed as the NJCAA Div. I Women's Basketball National Player of the Week on Wednesday.

Green led the top-ranked Lady Texans to a pair of top 25 wins over Odessa and Midland a week ago, averaging 28 points and five assists per game while shooting over 60 percent from the floor. Green capped the week with a career-high 34 points in the Lady Texans' 61-55 win over No. 22 Midland on Thursday.

Green currently leads the Lady Texans in scoring, averaging 15 points per game and is shooting over 52 percent from the field this season. Green has scored in double figures in eight of her last 10 outings, most recently a 26-point performance against Frank Phillips College on Monday night in Levelland. Green is the second Lady Texan to earn National Player of the Week honors this season after sophomore Keke Hunter was named the NJCAA Div. I Women's Basketball National Player of the Week on Nov. 7.

Instrumental in guiding the Lady Texans to a 24-1 record and winners of 21 straight games, Green will look to lead the Lady Texans to another conference road win in Big Spring on Thursday in a 5:45 p.m. tip against Howard College.
