LEVELLAND — For the second consecutive week, South Plains sophomore forward Gaige Prim has been named the Region V Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

Leading the Texans with 21.6 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, Prim has scored in double figures in every game this season and has recorded 17 double-doubles on the year. Prim netted 24 points and 13 rebounds on Jan. 28 against Odessa, which he followed up with a 17 point, 15 rebound performance in the Texans' 72-58 win over Midland on Jan. 31.

Prim leads the Western Junior College Athletic Conference in points per game, rebounds per game, and field goal percentage with a 64.2 percent clip this season.

Currently 19-3 on the year and sitting atop WJCAC standings with an 8-2 record, No. 5 South Plains will be on the road Thursday when they travel to Big Spring for a 7:30 p.m. tip against Howard College.
