No 1 Lady Texans, No. 5 Texans host Frank Phillips Monday on Think Pink Night at the Texan Dome

LEVELLAND — The South Plains College men's and women's basketball teams return the hardwood on Monday when they play host to Frank Phillips College on Think Pink Night at the Texan Dome, sponsored by Covenant Hospital of Levelland.

The Lady Texans will tip at 5:45 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com and Michael Wiiest of KLVT Radio Levelland will call the courtside action with pregame slated for 5:30 p.m.

The top-ranked Lady Texans will look to push their win streak to 21 games, currently 23-1 on the year and 8-0 in the WJCAC. South Plains downed No. 22 Midland College 61-55 in their last outing on Thursday as sophomore Gabbie Green recorded a career-high 34 points and four assists.

In their first matchup with the Lady Plainsmen on Dec. 1 in Borger, South Plains blasted Frank Phillips 70-47 behind Green's 15-point, seven rebound performance. Freshman Caroline Germond netted 11 points and nine assists as the Lady Texans shot over 46 percent from the floor and forced 21 turnovers in the contest. Currently 8-12 on the year and 1-7 in league play, Frank Phillips has lost three of their last four and are 5-5 away from home this season.

The Texans, who are currently ranked No. 5 in the country are 18-3 on the season and 7-2 in conference play following a 72-58 win over Midland College on Thursday night. South Plains hammered Frank Phillips in their first outing in Borger as Gaige Prim led all scorers with 29 points and 13 rebounds.

Sophomore Trey Wade chipped in 27 points and 11 boards against the Plainsmen as South Plains shot over 55 percent from the floor and dominated the glass, outrebounding Frank Phillips 42-26 in the paint. Currently 12-11 on the year and 2-7 in league play, Frank Phillips has lost three of their last four games, most recently a 75-66 loss to Odessa on Thursday in Borger.  

Monday is also Homecoming Night at the Texan Dome. The 2019 Homecoming king and queen will be announced at the halftime of the men's game.
