South Plains College Rink Bownds Memorial Rodeo named UPRA New Rodeo of the Year, UFR High Paying Rodeo

LEVELLAND — South Plains College recently hosted the 2018 Rink Bownds Memorial Rodeo September 14-15 at the Mallet Event Center which proved to be a huge success for the community and everyone who competed.

Hosted in honor of cowboy Rink Bownds, the rodeo earned the UPRA New Rodeo of the Year, as well as the UFR High Paying Rodeo on Tuesday. Some 300 plus contestants traveled from across the country to compete in what has been deemed one of the top rodeos in the country this year.

"Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, we were able to draw a large number of contestants and put on a really good rodeo for our community," South Plains head rodeo coach Kerry Doster said. "There's no way we could have done something like this without our community and all of its support, and we hope to make this an even bigger and better event in the future for South Plains College and Levelland."

South Plains College would like to thank all of our sponsors for their continued effort and support of SPC:
