Kerry Doster enters his 12th season at the helm of the Texan and Lady Texan rodeo program.

Doster has led the Lady Texans to six consecutive WJCAC Conference crowns, most recently, the 2023 WJCAC women's title.

During the 2022-2023 season, the Lady Texans finished second in the final region standings and qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo coming out of the Southwest Region. Under Doster's tutelage, the Lady Texans would also advance to the CNFR during the 2018-2019 season.

in 2021, Doster coached freshman barrel racer Emery Mask to a third-place finish in the Southwest Region, which qualified Mask for the CNFR.

During the 2017 season, Rainy Robinson and Chet Boren each finished inside the top 15 in the country at the CNFR, posting two of the program's top national finishes to date.

During the 2013-14 season, Shay Spitz qualified for the CNFR in barrel racing and breakaway roping. Spitz went on to finish third overall in the all-around and fourth in the barrel racing. That same year, the men's rodeo team finished third in the team standings in the Southwest Region as Ty Willick and J.W. Ery both qualified for the CNFR in steer wrestling. The previous year Willick was the 2013 Southwest Region Champion in steer wrestling.

Before coming to South Plains, Doster served as the head coach of the Sul Ross State University rodeo team from 1996-2010.

Doster’s career in college rodeo began when he became a member of the Weatherford College rodeo team from 1992-1994. After graduating from Weatherford Doster transferred to Sul Ross where he continued to compete in the saddle bronc, bareback, and steer wrestling events until he graduated with a degree in Ag Business in 1996. Doster completed a Masters of Science degree in 2009, also from Sul Ross.

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Doster was a member of the PRCA from 1994-2004 while competing in saddle bronc and steer wrestling. He still competes in steer wrestling and team roping, in addition to training horses in his spare time.

Doster and his wife, Lacey, reside in Levelland and have one daughter, Kellyanna.
