No. 2 South Plains travels to Dallas Nov. 23-24 for Collin County Thanksgiving Classic

LEVELLAND — The second-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team is set to return to the hardwood Nov. 23-24 for a two-game stint in Dallas at the Collin County Thanksgiving Classic.

The Texans will meet Seminole State College in a 3 p.m. matchup on Friday and will tipoff against Cowley County Community College at 3 p.m. Saturday. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com.

South Plains enters the weekend with a 6-0 record following two wins in Levelland at the Texan Classic Nov. 16-17. South Plains defeated North Lake College 84-55 and routed Coastal Bend College 101-74 to cap the weekend. Gaige Prim led the Texans in scoring in both contests, bucketing 19 points and seven rebounds against the Blazers and finished with 27 points and 13 rebounds against the Cougars.

The Texans are averaging 89.7 points per game to date and shooting 46.4 percent from the floor and 37 percent from the 3-point line. South Plains ranks ninth in the country with 11.8 3s per game and also rank sixth in the NJCAA in free throw percentage, shooting 79.8 percent from the charity stripe.

Prim leads the country with 13.7 rebounds per game, ranks third in the country with 82 total rebounds, and seventh in offensive rebounds with 30. Prim also ranks 15th with 23.5 points per game and 10th with 52 defensive rebounds.
