No. 15 Lady Texans set for three-game stint in Beeville Nov. 15-17

LEVELLAND — The No. 15 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team will be back on the road this weekend for a three-game stint at the Coastal Bend College Classic in Beeville beginning on Nov. 15.

The Lady Texans will tip off against Coastal Bend College on Thursday at 6 p.m., followed by a matchup with Palo Alto on Friday at 1 p.m., before ending the trip with an 11 a.m. contest against San Antonio College on Nov. 17.

Boasting a 4-1 record on the season, the Lady Texans split a two game road trip last weekend at the Pepsi Classic in Liberal, KS on the campus of Seward Community College. South Plains fell to No. 10 Seward 75-70 Friday night before bouncing back with an 80-51 victory over Dodge City on Saturday.

South Plains' Sarah Shematsi scored a season-high 21 points on 8 of 15 shooting to go along with two assists and three steals over 24 minutes against Dodge City. Sophomore Gabbie Green scored in double figures for the second time in consecutive games, netting 15 points on 7 of 15 shooting to go along with four assists and three boards.

Sophomore Chantel Govan netted nine points and two boards, bucketing four of her six attempts from the field in 26 minutes of action. Caroline Germond netted eight points and four assists while Ocean Robin tallied eight points while Ruth Koang bucketed seven and Nyah Morris finished with six.

South Plains enters the weekend averaging 72.6 points per game and shooting 45.7 percent from the floor. The Lady Texans have produced even better numbers on the defensive end as they rank in the top 20 nationally allowing just 49.2 points per game while forcing their opponents to shoot just 29.6 percent from the field.
