AUSTIN — Day three of the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from Mike A. Meyers Stadium saw the Texans and Lady Texans set several new personal best and add to their list of national qualifying marks on Friday.
The Texans began the day with a fifth-place finish coming out of heat three in the men's 4x100 relay as Brandon Letts, Keion Sutton, Andre Edwards, and Willari Watson hit a national qualifying mark with a time of 41.24. In the men's long jump, freshman Holland Martin stunned a stacked field of Div. I competitors, placing first overall as he set a new personal best and hit a national mark with a jump of 25' 4.5". Martin would also place ninth overall in the men's triple jump, soaring 49' 8.5" on his second attempt.
Sophomore William Watson was business as usual in the men's 100-meter hurdles, taking fifth in the third heat, hitting a national a mark with a final time of 14.25. South Plains' sophomore Omotayo Abolaji hit a national mark in the women's 100 meters, placing sixth coming out of heat 4 with a time of 11.90.
The Lady Texans would then place sixth overall in the women's 4x400, hitting a national mark by nearly 20 seconds as Agnes Abrocquah, Ashley Hughes, Janiel Moore, and Natassha McDonald clocked a final time of 3:40.49. The Texans also earned a top 10 overall finish in the men's 4x400 as Junior Charles, Jordan Atkinson, Ian Gonzales, and Montel Hood hit a national mark with a time of 3:10.64. In the men's javelin, freshman Markim Felix set a new personal best as he placed third overall with a throw of 240' 3".
Action will continue on Saturday and will be broadcast live on the Longhorn Network beginning at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude with the men's and women's 4x400 at 4:50 p.m.

AUSTIN — Day two of the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays from Mike A. Meyers stadium saw the completion of the decathlon and heptathlon and field events get underway with South Plains notching several national qualifying marks.
In the women's 400 hurdles, freshman Janiel Moore hit a national qualifying mark with a 1:04.15 coming out of heat 6. The Texans would pick up a pair of national marks in the men's 400 hurdles as sophomore William Watson ran a 52.09 placing third in heat nine. Sophomore Myles Scott would also hit a national mark and set a new personal best, taking fifth in heat six with a 54.01.
"Will and Myles really went out and competed well today," South Plains head coach Erik Vance. "They were running against a very talented field and ran hard, and we know they have their best races ahead of them this season."
Competing against a field of Div. I athletes, freshman Asani Hylton wrapped up the decathlon with a 12th place overall finish, tallying 6699 points. Sophomore Patrick Johnson also had a strong outing, taking 14th overall with 6095 points.
Hylton earned a pair of top 10 finishes on Thursday including a sixth-place finish in the 1500 meters, clocking a time of 4:50.23. Hylton would then take eighth in the javelin throw with a mark of 162' 8". Johnson battled for the top spot in the 110-meter hurdles, setting a new personal best and placed third overall with a time of 14.72. In the final event of the day, freshman Andrew Bosquez hit a national mark in the men's 5000 meters, clocking a final time of 14:49.00.
"We started the multis on Wednesday and finished up today, and both guys did a great job," Vance said. "I think both left a few points out there and made a couple mistakes but kept plugging along, and we know they're only going to get stronger as the year goes on."
Also competing on Thursday for Southeastern Louisiana is former South Plains All-American javelin thrower Adrian Willams, who won the men's Section B javelin event by nearly nine feet with a mark of 223' 3".

AUSTIN — Despite inclement weather throughout the day, day one of the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays got underway Wednesday with the decathlon and heptathlon at Mike A. Meyers Stadium.
Asani Hylton and Patrick Johnson were the two sole competitors for the orange and blue competing against 16 Div. I athletes in the decathlon Wednesday afternoon. With five events complete, Hylton sits in 11thoverall with 3778 points while Johnson is 16th with 3152. Wichita State's Hunter Veith is currently in first with 4398 points, followed by Scott Fllip of Rice who's in second with 4286 points.
Hylton placed inside the top 10 in four events including sixth-place finishes in the long jump and high jump events. Hylton soared 23' 2.75" in the men's long jump on his third attempt and cleared 6' 4.75" in the high jump. Hylton also placed 10th in the 100 meters with a time of 11.02 and 10th in the 400 meters with a 50.01.
Johnson also capped day one with a pair of top 10 finishes including a sixth place overall finish in the 400 meters, clocking a final time of 49.04. Johnson would follow up with an eighth-place finish in the 100 meters, crossing the line at 10.98.
