WEATHERFORD — The South Plains College women's basketball team fell to No. 4 Collin County 71-53 in the quarter-final round of the Region V Women's Basketball Tournament at the Betty Jo Graber Athletic Center on the campus of Weatherford Junior College.

Jennifer Silva scored a season-high 19 points for South Plains, connecting on nine of 17 shots from the field to go along with 11 boards over 30 minutes. Brendha Schwartz netted 11 points and nine boards, while Yendire Acosta finished with eight points and five rebounds.

Waiata Jennings netted 23 points, five rebounds, and five steals for the Cougars, while North Texas signee Mackenzie Buss poured in 18 points and four assists. Collin shot 40 percent from the field in the contest and was six of 22 from distance and nine of 18 from the free throw line.
