Otero edges Lady Texans 72-69 in overtime

LA JUNTA, Colorado — The South Plains College women's basketball team fell to Otero 72-69 in overtime Saturday in their second contest of the Otero College Classic.

South Plains will look to get back in the win column next weekend when they travel to Hobbs for a two-game stint beginning with a matchup against Casper College at 5 p.m. on Dec. 15, followed by a 3 p.m. tip against McCook Community College on Dec. 16. Both games will stream live at spctexans.com.

Dabria Blackwell led South Plains with 18 points and two boards, connecting on six of 11 shots from the field. Jennifer Silva finished with 14 points, four rebounds and four assists as the Lady Texans shot 38 percent from the field and 53 percent from distance.

Gia Bradley led Otero with 22 points and seven assists, while Katia Nekic netted 17 points and Alyssa Trujillo poured in 12 points and handed out three assists. Otero shot a 41 percent clip from the field and was 37.9 percent from the 3-point line.
