BIG SPRING — Viktoria Ivanova poured in a team-high 15 points as the South Plains College women's basketball team ousted Howard College 55-47 Friday afternoon at Harold Davis Court at the Dorthy Garrett Coliseum.

The Lady Texans improve to 13-6 on the season and 7-1 in league play and will be back on their home floor on Monday when they host Frank Phillips College at 5:45 p.m. at the Texan Dome. The contest will stream live at spctexans.com and can be heard locally on KLVT Radio AM1230 as Michael Wiiest will call the courtside action.

Ivanova dropped in 7 of 19 shots from the floor over 34 minutes, while also snagging four boards and picked four steals for South Plains. Ewa Kielar netted 12 points and grabbed six rebounds while Celia Sumbane controlled the glass, dropping in 10 points and pulled in 10 boards over 33 minutes.

SPC shot a 37.7 percent clip from the field, bucketing 28 points inside the paint, and dropped in 10 points off 18 turnovers from Howard. South Plains held a slight edge inside, outrebounding Howard 35-27 and tallied 10 points on second-chance opportunities.

Friday's win keeps South Plains deadlocked with Midland at the top of the conference standings, as each team has just a single loss in league play. New Mexico Junior College is third in the league standings at 6-2, while Western Texas is fourth at 5-5.
