Lady Texans edge Clarendon 67-61 Thursday

CLARENDON — Sophomore Ashala Moseberry scored a game-high 21 points as the South Plains College women's basketball team edged Clarendon College 67-61 Thursday at Bulldog Gymnasium.

South Plains improves to 10-5 on the year and 4-0 in league play and will return home on Monday when they play host to Western Texas College at 5:45 p.m.

Moseberry finished 8 of 14 from the floor and also snagged nine boards over 38 minutes. Raija Todd tallied 13 points on 6 of 16 shooting, while Viktoria Ivanova notched 11 points and five boards and Ewa Kielar recorded nine points and 10 rebounds coming off the bench for South Plains.

The Lady Texans shot 35.2 percent from the field in the contest and were 26.1 percent from distance. SPC enjoyed a slight advantage on the glass, outrebounding Clarendon 42-38, netting 10 points inside the paint, and received 15 points from their bench. Clarendon shot 26.8 percent from the floor and was 6 of 18 from the 3-point line.
