CARTHAGE — The sixth-ranked South Plains College women's basketball team fell to No. 1 Northwest Florida State 48-42 Friday in their opening game of the Panola College Thanksgiving Classic.

South Plains moves to 5-2 on the season and will be back on the court on Saturday for a 5 p.m. tip against No. 24 Panola College. The contest will stream live at spctexans.com

Sophmore Viktoria Ivanova led SPC on the offensive end, pouring in 12 points, seven coming in the second quarter. Ashala Moseberry netted eight points for the Lady Texans, while Matilda Soderlund chipped in eight.
