#5 Lady Texans fall to #8 Trinity Valley 74-64 Friday

DENISON, TX — The South Plains College women's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season Friday, falling to #8 Trinity Valley 74-64 in their second game of the Grayson College Classic.

The Lady Texas move to 4-1 on the season and will be back on the floor on Saturday at 3 p.m. against #12 Weatherford College.

Celia Sumbane led South Plains offensively, pouring in 19 points, 11 coming in the final 20 minutes. Freshman Raija Todd dropped in 14 points for the Lady Texans, her fifth consecutive game in double figures. Viktoria Ivanova and Vitoria Carvalho each scored nine, and sophomore Ashala Moseberry tallied six points.

Following the weekend stint, South Plains will be back on the road at the Panola College Classic Nov. 26-27, followed by a trip to Warner, OK for the Connors State Classic Dec. 10-11.
