No. 5 Lady Texans edge Clarendon 58-52

CLARENDON — The South Plains College women's basketball team picked up a crucial conference road win Saturday as the fifth-ranked Lady Texans defeated Clarendon College 58-52 at Bulldog Gymnasium.

South Plains improves to 11-3 on the season and 8-2 in the WJCAC and will return to the hardwood on March 20 at 2 p.m. against Clarendon at the Texan Dome.

Freshman Debora Reis recorded her 11th double-double of the year as the 6-foot forward from Brazil notched 15 points and 10 boards over 31 minutes, dropping in 6 of 14 shots from the floor and blocked three shots.

Dyana Offutt dropped in 11 points and dished out three assists in 30 minutes of action as the Lady Texans shot 26.1 percent from the field and 18.2 percent from distance. Sophomore Grace Hunter poured in nine points and snagged eight rebounds while Shayla Moseberry chipped in nine points coming off the bench for the Lady Texans.

South Plains won the battle on the glass 59-46, scoring 18 points off 18 turnovers from the Lady Bulldogs and scored 20 points on second-chance opportunities. South Plains received 30 points from their bench and held Clarendon to a 28.2 percent shooting clip from the field.
