LEVELLAND — Six Lady Texans scored in double figures as No. 7 South Plains College routed Frank Phillips 84-52 Monday night at the Texan Dome.

South Plains improves to 9-2 on the season and 6-1 in conference play and will be back on the hardwood on Monday, March 8 in Big Spring to take on Howard College at 5:45 p.m. The contest will stream live at spctexans.com.

"Our kids played hard and executed pretty well for the most part," South Plains head coach Ara Baten said. "We had a couple of hiccups in the third quarter and got those things corrected in the fourth quarter, and I thought overall we played well."

Sophomore Jordan Brown scored a season-high 17 points, bucketing 7 of 13 shots over 25 minutes. Dyana Offutt dropped in 15 points and grabbed 10 boards, netting 7 of 10 shots from the field as the Lady Texans shot 48.5 percent from the floor including a 51.4 percent clip in the first half.

Viktoria Ivanova chipped in 15 points on 6 of 12 shooting for South Plains while freshman Debora Reis recorded her eighth double-double of the year, pouring in 11 points and hauled in 10 rebounds over 28 minutes. Sophomore Grace Hunter was 5 of 9 shooting, totaling 12 points in 31 minutes.

"I was a little concerned coming in because I don't think we had the best practices these past few days," Baten said. "But, when it was time to perform I thought we did what we needed to do. I'm happy and I'm proud of the way they competed, and it's difficult to come back from a tough night like we had."

South Plains was just as efficient on the defensive end forcing the Lady Plainsmen to shoot just 25 percent from the floor. The Lady Texans had their way in the paint, outscoring their counterpart 38-8 inside and tallied 18 points on second-chance opportunities. The Lady Texans forced 20 turnovers in the contest resulting in 28 points on the offensive end and received 19 points from their bench.

"In spots we can be good, but we have a tendency sometimes to take quick shots and lose some of our aggressiveness," Baten said. "Those are things we have to continue to get better at. We got lazy at times on defense and let them loose more than we wanted to, but when we needed to get stops we were able to do that."
