#2 Lady Texans down Lake Region State College 60-47 Sunday in Phoenix

PHOENIX, Arizona — The second-ranked South Plains College women's basketball won their 16th straight game Sunday defeating Lake Region State College 60-47 in their second game at the Phoenix College Classic.

Freshman Ka'Lia Smith recorded a double-double for the Lady Texans, dropping in 10 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, finishing 4 of 6 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free throw line. Grace Hunter led the Lady Texans in scoring with 11 points on 4 of 5 shooting to go along with four assists and three steals for South Plains.

Sophomore Caroline Germond chipped in 10 points and a game-high seven steals, netting 5 of 14 shots from the floor while also dishing out three assists for South Plains. LSU signee Sarah Shematsi chipped in eight points on 3 of 8 shooting and also picked three steals and snagged three rebounds for the Lady Texans.

Oceane Robin recorded seven points and nine rebounds, connecting of 2 of 3 attempts from the hardwood and also picked two steals in the contest. South Plains' Johanna Teder recorded five points, three rebounds, three steals and three assists as the Lady Texans finished 24-for-52 from the floor and had 21 steals in the game.

Now 16-0 on the year, South Plans will be back on the floor on Monday at 1 p.m. MST against Bismarck State College, before wrapping up the road trip on Tuesday at 12 p.m. MST against Mesa Community College.
