PRATT, KANSAS — Sophomore Oceane Robin led all scorers with 14 points, four rebounds and two steals as the second-ranked South Plains College women's basketball team blasted Pratt Community College 76-42 Saturday at the Beaver Dome.
South Plains improves to 8-0 on the year and will return to action Nov. 29-30 in Twin Falls, Idaho at the College of Southern Idaho Thanksgiving Classic. The Lady Texans will battle Snow College at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 29, before taking on College of Sothern Idaho at 7 p.m. on the 30th.
Robin finished 5 of 6 from the floor and 3 of 5 from the free throw line as the 6-foot guard from France tallied double-digit scoring figures for the fourth time this season. 6-foot-5 sophomore center Ruth Koang tallied double figures for the sixth straight game, dropping in 10 points and five rebounds for the Lady Texans in 13 minutes of action.
LSU signee Sarah Shematsi poured in nine points and hauled in six boards over 29 minutes for South Plains while Ashala Moseberry chipped in nine points and four boards and Ka'Lia Smith netted eight points and four rebounds over 17 minutes. Grace Hunter and Kor Fornesa Liu combined for 12 points, each tallying six as the Lady Texans shot 50 percent (28-56) from the floor and 28.6 percent (6-21) from the 3-point line.
South Plains had its way inside, outrebounding the Beavers (5-2) 39-26 on the glass and scored 42 points inside the paint. The Lady Texans scored 19 points off 20 turnovers from the Beavers and netted 12 points on second-chance opportunities while receiving 29 points from their bench.
Rylee Alexander led the Beavers on the offensive end with 11 points and five rebounds, finishing 3 of 6 from the floor and 4 of 6 from the charity stripe over 30 minutes. Jordan Mathis netted eight points for Pratt, knocking down 1 of 2 shots from the field and was 6 of 9 from the free throw line. Rachel Tippens chipped in seven points and three boards for Pratt while Jazmin George dropped in four boards and two rebounds.
