No. 3 Lady Texans silence Clarendon 81-46 Thursday

CLARENDON — The No. 3-ranked South Plains College women's basketball team had four players score in double figures Thursday night as they silenced the Clarendon College Lady Bulldogs 81-46 at the Bulldog Gymnasium.

South Plains has now won 18 straight and improves to 21-1 on the year and sit atop the WJCAC standings with a 6-0 mark in league play. The Lady Texans will return home Monday night for a 5:45 tip against No. 16 Odessa College.

Sarah Shematsi led the Lady Texans with 12 points, three rebounds and a pair of assists, knocking down 5 of 11 shots from the field in 25 minutes of action. Keke Hunter recorded 11 points and 11 rebounds, sinking 3 of 6 attempts from the hardwood and was 5-for-6 from the free throw line.

South Plains' Nyah Morris chipped in 11 points over 22 minutes, draining 4 of 10 attempts from the floor including a trio of 3s in the back half. Sophomore Chantel Govan recorded 11 points and four rebounds as the Lady Texans shot 43 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from behind the arc.

Clarendon's Kea Mays led all scorers with 25 points and three boards while Kaleigh Stolz netted four points and four rebounds and Kai-Lee Valentine finished with four points and three rebounds.
