LEVELLAND – Earning a No. 11 national ranking in the first NJCAA women's basketball regular season polls, the South Plains College women's basketball team will close out the fall semester with a pair of games at home this weekend at the Texan Dome.

South Plains will matchup with Connors State at 6 p.m. on Friday, before tipping off against Hill College on Sunday at 2 p.m. Both games will be streaming live at spctexans.com, and live stats will be available on the women's basketball schedule page.

Led by sophomore Keke Hunter, the Lady Texans lead the country in total points (1162) and rank fourth in the country in field goals made per game (35.5) and fourth in field goal percentage (51%). Leading the Lady Texans with 17 points and 10.1 rebounds per game, Hunter has sparked South Plains on both ends of the floor as she leads the country in offensive rebounds with 68, and ranks fourth in total rebounds with 131.

Hunter has scored in double figures 10 times this season including a season-high 34 points against Palo Alto College on Nov. 16. Freshman Sarah Shematsi has helped South Plains to a 12-1 record including a 2-0 mark to start conference play, averaging 13.8 points per game and is shooting 49.7 percent from the floor on the year.

Connors State has won five of their last six and bring an 8-2 record on the year into the matchup. Averaging 58.7 points per game and shooting just 34.9 percent from the field, the Cowgirls are led by sophomore forward Vicky Duru who leads the team in scoring with 13 points per game and is shooting 39.2 percent from the floor.

Hill, who will play Connors State at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Dome, enters the weekend with a record of 6-4 and have won three straight dating back to Nov. 26. Averaging 73.1 points and 46.7 boards per game, the Lady Rebels are led by sophomore Jade Compton who leads the team with 12. 8 points per game and is shooting a team-high 45.8 percent from the field.
