No. 15 Lady Texans roll past Grayson College 87-54 Friday in Athens

ATHENS, TX — The No. 15 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team extended its win streak to five games Friday with an 87-54 drumming of Grayson College at Cardinal Gym on the campus of Trinity Valley Community College.

Sophomore Gabbie Green led South Plains (8-1) with 17 points, eight assists, and five steals, knocking down 7 of her 13 attempts from the floor. Sarah Shematsi finished with 16 points, eight rebounds and three steals for South Plains bucketing 5 of 6 attempts from the floor including a pair of 3s.

South Plains raced out to a 26-9 lead after 10 minutes and held Grayson (1-7) to just 23 points in the first 20 minutes as they carried a 39-23 lead into the half.

Keke Hunter finished with 14 points, seven boards and four assists for South Plains while Ruth Koang Caroline Germond and Oceane Robin each finished with six points for the Lady Texans. Sophomore Chantel Govan tallied five points, four assists and a pair of steals for South Plains while Romola Dominguez netted six points and three assists.

South Plains will return to the hardwood tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Garden City before returning home on Sunday at 4 p.m. against Lamar College at the Texan Dome.
