BEEVILLE — Keke Hunter and Gabbie Green combined for 56 points as the No. 15 ranked South Plains College women's basketball team decimated San Antonio College 145-36 Saturday at the Coastal Bend College Classic.

145 points marks a program record for a single game, which was set on Friday afternoon in the Lady Texan's 136-39 victory over Palo Alto College. South Plains' 109-point victory margin is also a new program record, surpassing Friday's 97-point margin of victory.

The Lady Texans improve to 7-1 with Saturday's win and will return to the hardwood Nov. 23-24 in Athens, Texas. South Plains will take on Grayson College on Friday before squaring off with Garden City on Saturday. Both game times have yet to be announced.

"We were really aggressive defensively and have been trying to use our defense to spark our offense," South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. "We've been able to create some energy on the defensive end by putting pressure on the ball and trying to get in passing lanes, and our defense has really allowed us to take high percentage shots on the other end."

Hunter recorded her fifth double-double of the year as the Hot Springs, Arkansas native bucketed 30 points and grabbed 15 boards while also recording six steals and three blocked shots. Green netted a career-high 26 points, sinking 12 of 20 attempts from the field to go along with a career-high 13 assists, eight rebounds and five steals for South Plains.

Freshman Sarah Shematsi tallied 22 points on 10 of 15 shooting, grabbing seven boards including five on the defensive end for the Lady Texans. Caroline Germond netted 20 points, nine assists, six deflections and five steals for South Plains while Chantel Govan finished with 12 points six steals and fours assists, and Reilly Dunn bucketed 11 points and six boards.

"We preach to our team to go out and do your job no matter what, and that's what we've tried to build on the past few days," Petree said. "Regardless of the score, we are trying to get maximum effort and compete on every possession. Fortunately, we were able to do those things and that led to us being able to play up-tempo basketball. If you look at the final stats, everyone is getting involved and that's something we hope can carry over into conference play as the season goes on."
