Lady Texans sink Chandler-Gilbert 72-57 Sunday in Arizona

CHANDLER, Ariz. — The South Plains College women's basketball team picked up its third win in as many days with a 72-57 drumming of Chandler-Gilbert on Sunday to improve to 13-4 on the year.

"Any time you play four games in four days and pick up three wins is definitely a positive," South Plains head coach Cayla Petree said. "We were able to get a lot of players significant minutes and were able to be tough down the stretch and pull out some wins. I really feel we were able to get better as a team, and this trip was beneficial for us to come to Arizona before conference play."

South Plains' La'Praisjah Johnson led all scorers with a season-high 21 points including 11 in the first half. Freshman Ravae Payne finished with a season-high 13 points including four 3s while Chelsea Hunter poured in eight.
