Kuehne scores 15, Lady Texans improve to 4-1 with 77-39 win over SWCID

CLARENDON — The No. 16 South Plains College women's basketball team improved to 4-1 on Friday with a 77-39 win over SWCID at the Bulldog Gymnasium.

Mikayla Kuehne led all scorers with 15 points, knocking down five 3s in the contest, three of which came in the second half. South Plains' Alexis Popham finished with 14 points and Mckenzie Taylor and Haleigh Hill each had 10. Gabbie Green bucketed nine points for the Lady Texans while La'Praisjah Johnson finished with eight.

South Plains used a 30-point third quarter to jump out to a commanding lead before scoring 24 in the final stint. Kuehne scored nine of her game-high 15 in the second half including a trio of 3-pointers. Taylor and Johnson scored a combined 18 in the back half of the contest as the Lady Texans picked up their fourth win in as many games.

"We had a solid day for playing our fifth game in eight days," South Plains College head coach Cayla Petree said. "We balanced our minutes and our scoring to pick up another great team win." 

South Plains will look to push its win streak to five when they take on Seminole State on Saturday at noon in Clarendon.
