Brainard had yet another efficient night from the field, making 9-of-13 shots while playing all but two minutes of the contest. Entering Thursday night's game, Brainard was shooting a whopping 54-percent from the field and leads the conference in scoring by nearly two points per contest.
Moore hit on 9-of-16 shots.
As a team, the Lady Texans made 33-of-54 (.611) shots from the field.
Howard took the early lead with a 3 but the Lady Texans would go on to score the next 10 points for a seven-point advantage.
The Lady Hawks tied the game up at 18 near the midway point but by halftime the Lady Texans led 36-28.
Never seriously threatened in the second half, the Lady Texans put the game away for good when Moore stole the ball from Howard's Jade Jones and took it the distance of the court to begin a 12-0 run that gave SPC a 22-point advantage, 63-41. Howard would score only three points over the final 10 minutes compared to 20 by the Lady Texans.
The Lady Texans improve to 13-9 overall and 7-2 in league play and remain only a game behind Monday's opponent, New Mexico, for the lead in the standings.
New Mexico (17-5, 8-1) defeated Western Texas 61-41 Thursday night.
South Plains will host the Lady T-Birds Monday, Feb. 10 with tip off scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
