South Plains led 28-22 after a put back by Rafeegah Fataar with 7:24 to go in the first half.
Collin responded with a 10-0 scoring run and the Lady Texans were never able to regain the lead.
Playing in their final games, sophomores Jasmine Brainard, TaSheena Moore, and Alexius Dawn once again led the way for the Lady Texans in just about every statistical category.
Brainard and Moore – both Lubbock natives – scored 17 points apiece while Dawn finished with 15. Moore recorded a double-double with a game high 11 rebounds and also led all players with five assists.
Dawn and Brainard each grabbed eight rebounds as well.
The Lady Texans outrebounded Collin County 46-33 and, though they did not light it up from the field, kept pace with the Lady Cougars from the field as South Plains made 27-of-68 (.397) shots from the field compared to 29-of-65 by Collin.
Foul shooting may have been the difference in the game as Collin converted 21-of-25 (.840) opportunities and the Lady Texans made only 9-of-17 (.529).
The Lady Texans end their season with a 16-12 overall record. Collin County moves to 25-6 and will advance to Friday's 7 p.m. semifinal game against the winner of Thursday's matchup between (W1) New Mexico and (N4) Temple.
