Lady Texan Alexius Dawn signs NLI with Arkansas-Little Rock

LEVELLAND - Lady Texan sophomore point guard Alexius Dawn will attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock once her studies at South Plains College are completed, she announced Wednesday afternoon in the T-Club Lounge.

A 5-foot-4 guard from Amarillo, Dawn started in each of the 59 games the Lady Texans played the past two seasons, earning all-conference and all-region honors each season as well as a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American award this past season.

Dawn should have an opportunity to fill the void left by departing senior point guard Taylor Ford who ranks third on UALR's all-time assists list.

Her departure, however, leads a huge void for head coach Michelle Wyatt as she enters her 10th season.

"She's been a huge part of what we've done the last two years," Wyatt told Don Williams of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.  "We'll probably realize next year how much we really did depend on her as we go a different direction with a point guard."

UALR finished this past season with a record of 18-12, ending their season with a 66-62 loss to No. 2-seed Western Kentucky in the second round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament.
