South Plains led by as many as nine points in a low scoring first half, but Howard went on a 12-0 that began with a three-point bucket Porsche Young with just under seven minutes to go in the first half, and ended with a free throw that gave the Lady Texans their first deficit of the night, 20-19 with 57-seconds to go. 

Stephanie Moore would help SPC regain the lead with a layup to help the Lady Texans to a 21-20 halftime lead.

Midway through the second half Raely Parada gave South Plains a six point lead when she sank a 3-point basket. A 7-2 answer by Howard would again decrease the Lady Texan lead to only one point, 34-33.

South Plains would dominate the final six minutes of the game as Parada hit two free throws and Stephanie Moore made a layup to make it a five point game. Two free throws by Howard College would get them as close as they would get as SPC scored the final five points of the ballgame to claim the victory.

Moore scored a game his 16 points and also pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Lady Texans. Parada had a big night with nine points and nine boards. 

The Lady Texans (5-16, 2-3) will wrap up the first half of the conference schedule Thursday, February 2 when they visit Western Texas College in Snyder. Western Texas (12-9, 1-3) fell 53-37 at Odessa Monday evening. 

South Plains will look to avenge a 58-56 loss to Western Texas on December 1 in the opening game of the WJCAC pre-conference tourney. Live video of the contest will be available at www.spctexans.com.
