Gray, a 5 foot, 6 inch wing from Post who started every game this past season, will be staying in the area as she will head east to Lubbock Christian University, joining a squad that recently enjoyed a record breaking season that included 27 victories. The Lady Chaps will be receiving a player who averaged more than 30 minutes per contest and nearly 8-points per contest for the Lady Texans in the 2008-09 season.

East will attend The University of the Southwest in Hobbs, N.M. in 2009-2010 and Lady Texan head coach Michelle Wyatt informed the crowd in attendance that East will face good friend and fellow signee (Gray) as University of the Southwest is scheduled to play Lubbock Christian next season.

Levelland native Lindsey Lawless will attend Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas, a team that recorded a record of 23-wins and 6-losses this past season, which included a berth to the NCAA Division III national tournament in St. Louis, MO.

Before officially signing, Lady Texan coach Michelle Wyatt had each of the signees explain why they chose these respective schools, and let Rachel Gray have the honors of speaking first, "It's a good school and close to home and I really liked the coaches. The campus is small just like here and it is what I was looking for."

East also enjoyed the small campus atmosphere that the University of the Southwest offered and added, "I also really liked the coaches and players, the atmosphere, and I think it is going to be a great place to be."

"I chose Howard Payne because it is a Christian school and it will really benefit the major I am going into, and the coaches and players are great. It is kind of far from home so I was kind of sad."

The last sentence from Lawless (being far from home) drew applause from family and friends that were in attendance to support her, and someone jokingly chimed in, "It's a good thing you didn't say you chose Howard Payne because it was far from home."
