Lady Texans Struggle in Odessa

ODESSA, Texas - The South Plains College Lady Texans fell to 6-3 in Western Junior College Athletic Conference action when they lost to Odessa College 75-59 Monday.  SPC should maintain at least a share of second place in the WJCAC as New Mexico was 4-3 entering Monday night, while Howard and Odessa were 4-4.  Odessa now moves to 5-4 with the victory.

South Plains allowed Odessa to jump in front early and could never recover.  Six minutes into the contest, the Lady Texans found themselves down ten, 14-4.  Odessa would extend that lead to as many as 22 points before going to the locker room up 45-24.

The Lady Texans tried to claw their way back into the game by going on an 11-2 run to begin the second half and close the gap to twelve points.  South Plains would never get closer than that as the Lady Wranglers regained their composure and won 75-59.

South Plains will try to get back on the winning track on Thursday, February 5 when they face Clarendon College in their homecoming game at the Texan Dome.  The Lady Texans defeated Clarendon 65-61 in overtime when they played on January 8.  The Lady Texans and Lady Bulldogs are scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m.
