The Lady Texans could never quite get their shooting hands hot as they shot only 13-of-59 (22%) from the field for the game and did not make a 3-point attempt on eight shots from beyond the arc. South Plains also hit only 11-of-21 free throw attempts, while Midland College shot 32-of-69 from the field, nailed seven three pointers and 7-of-9 free throw attempts.
Sajoyia Griffin led the Lady Texans in scoring with nine points, while Lubbock native Taniqua Ards added six. Rachel Gray scored five, Chasity Workman and Lashanda Luckey each had four, Samiesha Williams scored three, and McKinsie East, Christen McLee, and Dayon Hall-Jones each added two.
The Lady Texans return to the Texan Dome on Monday, January 19 where they will face Frank Phillips College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and will be aired live on KLVT 1230 AM and www.hprnetwork.com.
