#2 Texans tame #12 Wranglers 63-60 Monday at the Dome

LEVELLAND — Malique Ewin netted 17 points and six boards Monday as the second-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team outlasted No. 12 Odessa 63-60 at the Texan Dome.

South Plains improve to 28-1 on the season and 14-1 in league play and will play in their final regular season matchup on Thursday when they host Midland College at 7:30 p.m. at the Dome.

"We know we're going to get everyone's best shot, and I told our guys this was the perfect game to begin March," South Plains head coach Hayden Sowers said. "It was good to get Jabori back, and we need to continue to put in the work and get better. We had a number of guys go out and make plays tonight, and I hope the crowd enjoyed it tonight and we appreciate everyone that came out to support us."

The Texans shot 56 percent in the contest as Ewin finished eight of 14 from the floor over 37 minutes. Mcghee finished with 17 points and three rebounds in 31 minutes, while Jermahri Hill posted 13 points and seven boards for South Plains. Jalen Hampton chipped in eight points over 35 minutes, while Kerwin Prince tallied five points and five boards.

Odessa shot 43.1 percent from the floor was was six of 20 from the 3-point line in the contest. Damonze Woods and Esyah White each finished with 14 points for the Wranglers, while Dylan Sanders had seven and Willie Lightfoot finished with six points.
