#1 Texans rout Western Texas 91-63 Monday, improve to 17-0

SNYDER — Jabori Mcghee scored a team-high 19 points while Jalen Hampton finished with 17 points and six boards as the top-ranked South Plains College men's basketball team improved to 17-0 Monday with a 91-63 rout of Western Texas at the WTC Coliseum.

South Plains will be back at home on Thursday when they host Clarendon College at 7:30 p.m. at the Texan Dome.

Mcghee knocked down six of 10 shots from the field and was a perfect six of six from the charity stripe as the Texans shot a 64.3 percent clip from the floor and 40 percent from distance. Hampton knocked down seven of eight shots from the field over 26 minutes while Malique Ewin totaled 16 points and nine rebounds in 29 minutes.

Kerwin Prince chipped in 15 points and snagged five boards coming off the bench for the Texans, while Jermahri Hill netted seven points and two rebounds. Western shot just 36 percent from the floor and was seven of 25 from the 3-point line. South Plains controlled the interior, bucketing 40 points inside the paint and put back 12 points on second-chance opportunities.
