Green, Gallinat lead Texans to 85-67 drumming of Navarro

LEWISVILLE, Texas—Justice Green scored 18 points and Roberto Gallinat chipped in 14 as the fifth ranked South Plains College Texans picked up their second win of the season, downing Navarro 85-67 on Saturday.

"We started making plays today and found the open shot," Green said. "It seemed like once one person was able to find the basket, everyone else started to find their rhythm. This was a good confidence builder for our team and we played well. With the game we have tomorrow, if we come out and execute, I think it will be a good outcome in our favor."

Grantham Gillard went 3-for-4 from the 3-point line and finished with 14 points, while Ibrahima Diagne, a 6-9 sophomore from Les Aubrias, France finished with 12 points for South Plains. Texas Tech commit Jordan Brangers totaled nine points for the Texans (2-0), while Josh Webster finished with six points.

The Texans led 43-35 at the half before extending their lead and outscoring the Bulldogs 42-32 in the final 20 minutes. With Saturday's contest in the win column for the Texans, South Plains is set for a top five matchup on Sunday, as they are set to tip-off with Trinity Valley, who comes into the game ranked third in the latest NJCAA polls.

"We moved the ball well today and created good shots," Gallinat said. "We got that huge lead in the second half, and we kept it. We need to execute the game plan tomorrow and execute on defense. Neither team has a problem scoring, and I feel like its going to be a fun game for South Plains College."
