Texans Fall To Panola

Levelland- Despite a double-double performance from sophomore guard Che Bob, the South Plains College Texans fell to Panola Junior College 76-69 Monday night at the Texan Dome.

Bob finished with 21 points and 12 boards for SPC, who fall to 2-3 on the year with Monday's loss. Jerron Love had nine points and three boards for the Texans, while Biron Joseph and Michael Wolfe each scored six.

Panola had four players in double figures, including Charles Tucker who racked up 22 points and six rebounds, while Devyn Wilson scored 15 for the Ponies.

Panola was able to jump out to an early 17-6 lead with just under 14 minutes left in the first half, but the Texans battled back and trimmed the lead to just two with 10:37 left in the first frame.

South Plains took its first lead of the contest with 3:56 to go before the break, before Panola regained a 38-34 lead at the half.

With 14:23 to go in the second half, Diamante Langston drained a three pointer from the top of the key to tie the game at 46 a piece. The Ponies would once again recapture the lead with 11 minutes left to go, leading 57-50.

The Texans answered back one more time when Bob connected on a three from the left wing with 4:01 to play, cutting the Ponies lead to 64-63.

Despite a valiant effort from the Texans, Panola was able to hold on to a narrow margin for the remainder of the game, escaping with a seven-point win.

South Plains will get their next chance to get in the win column Wednesday night when they square off with Seward County Community College starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Texan Dome.
