Texans host New Mexico Military Monday at 6:30 p.m.

LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Texans will look to bounce back from their recent defeat at Clarendon College when they host New Mexico Military Monday, Feb. 17 at the Texan Dome.  Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

A special recognition is scheduled for halftime of the contest, as Wounded Warrior Project Alumni Jason Lilley and Anthony Villarreal will be in attendance.

The seventh-ranked Texans are 22-4 overall and 9-3 in WJCAC play, but have last three of their last five games and have fallen into a tie with Howard atop the league standings and hold a one-half game lead on both New Mexico and Odessa.

Western Texas sits fifth in the standing but remain very much in contention at 1-½ games behind SPC and Howard.

Texan head coach Steve Green – who will be looking for his 500th career coaching victory Monday night - recently emphasized the importance of this stretch of his team's schedule as 'must win' games.

New Mexico Military is 2-10 in conference play, but rallied from a 15-point deficit to push the Texans to the brink the last time the two teams played.  On Thursday, the Texans will host Frank Phillips before traveling to Midland on Monday, Feb. 24.

Those three teams have a combined conference record of 9-28.

South Plains is still in control of their own destiny and is assured of the WJCAC championship if they can win out over their last four games that includes a showdown with Odessa College in the regular season finale Feb. 27 at the Texan Dome.

Three of South Plains' last four games will be played at home.
